In the process of construction or repair, it is very often necessary to attach various flat or rolled facing materials to the main building structures or surfaces. Previously, this was done with a conventional hammer and small upholstery studs. Such work is characterized by a rather large volume, as well as labor intensity.
Imagine how long it takes to nail a material such as fiberboard to a wood floor. These are thousands of carnations, for which it will be necessary to spend a lot of time. But gradually the development of the construction industry in the field of the emergence of new tools came to this area. For builders, they invented a special tool that speeds up the described work - a construction stapler. This tool allows you to partially mechanize upholstery work.
Depending on the model, construction staplers can work both on the muscular strength of the builder and use electricity or compressed air energy. However, the result of all staplers is the same - it is an acceleration of the process of driving small nails or staples in the process of lining with various flat materials.
Types of construction staplers
All construction staplers use two types of consumable fasteners: nails and staples. However, we will classify construction staplers according to other parameters. So if you want to buy a construction stapler in a store, you should know that there are the following types of this tool:
1. Mechanical stapler
This type of staplers is the simplest and at the same time the most popular among ordinary citizens. The principle of operation of this type of stapler is no different from its smaller counterparts: stationery staplers. Due to the muscular force transmitted through the lever to the spring, it is compressed and after its sharp release, the special tip hits the pack of staples previously embedded in the body, more precisely, the first bracket in the pack and hammers it into the material.
After the bracket breaks through the facing material and the main surface, the tips of the bracket are bent and it is fixed. If the building structure does not allow it to be pierced through, the tips of the bracket simply enter the material to the full length according to the principle of studs and also fix the bracket motionless.
The mechanical stapler is simple in design and low in price. In order for the staples to fit various models of staplers from different companies, they are unified in size. From the staples used in stationery staplers, construction staples differ in their large size. The disadvantage of models of mechanical staplers is that it is necessary to apply considerable force to drive in the staples, and also that, compared to other models, which we will discuss below, they have little productivity.
And if you have to fix, for example, a hundred square meters of facing material throughout the whole working day, your hands will get so tired that you simply won’t be able to put enough effort on the lever. Of the advantages, it is worth noting the low weight of the tool, the wide distribution of consumables and absolute mobility, since it is not tied to any energy sources.
2. Electric stapler
This type of stapler is the so-called professional tool. In terms of its functionality, it significantly surpasses its mechanical counterparts. The main advantage of the electric stapler is that the mechanical force in it is replaced by an electric drive, which compresses the spring with it, which “shoots” the staple. Clogging of the bracket occurs after pressing the start button.
Due to the fact that the force for compressing the spring is carried out using an electric drive, even not very strong people, such as women, can use this tool. Also, as a plus, it is worth noting the much higher speed of this type of stapler.
As a disadvantage of an electric stapler, it is worth noting that it is strongly tied to a source of electrical energy (essentially an outlet). In this regard, the radius of use of the stapler is equal to the length of the wire or extension cord. Of course, you can also find staplers with batteries on sale, but they have much more weight, which is not very convenient, and the cost of electric staplers is much higher than that of mechanical staplers. Due to the high price, the main consumers of electric staplers are employees of construction and repair companies who need it in their work all the time.
3. Pneumatic stapler
This type of the described tool, unlike previous models, clogs the bracket using the energy of compressed air. Due to this technology, the pneumatic stapler has a very high speed of operation, as well as the power of staple driving. The pneumatic stapler is able to drive very long staples into fairly hard materials. At the same time, the mass of the tool itself is much less than that of the electrical counterpart.
A pneumatic stapler, like an electric stapler, is not very mobile in operation. The fact is that it requires compressed air, for example from a compressor, which is supplied through a hose. This type of tool is most common in industrial production, where it is necessary to hammer in a large number of staples, for example, in the production of furniture, wooden containers, etc.
In addition to the main described types of staplers, you can also find specialized varieties. So there are cable staplers - for fixing wires when laying telephone or computer lines, packaging staplers - for making large packaging cardboard boxes, staplers for driving nails, etc.
