In the process of repairing an apartment or building a house, sooner or later you will need to drill walls made of concrete, brick, building blocks and other materials. It also becomes necessary to split partitions made of stone materials, for example, in the process of redevelopment or installation of various plumbing equipment in an old apartment, although much less frequently.
The described types of work can be performed manually using a conventional hammer or a small sledgehammer and a chisel, but it is much more convenient and faster to do this with a tool specially designed for this purpose - a puncher.
Powerful professional tools are quite expensive and few can afford to buy them. But you can always easily get an inexpensive hammer drill for home use for little money, but with
necessary set of operating modes.
One of these "home" tools is the FELISATTI RH18/450ER rotary hammer. This model has a low power - only 450W, which is actually very small for a hammer drill with which you are going to do a large amount of work, for example, in a room with concrete walls. But for brick walls or plastered from gas silicate, it is quite enough. It can also be used as an electric drill. It is enough just to replace the standard chuck for drills with SDS+ shank with a standard chuck for standard round drills.
The FELISATTI RH18/450ER perforator is the smallest in the line of tools of this class of this company. Its weight is only 2 kg. This is essentially the weight of an average drill. At the same time, this rotary hammer has a standard engine layout for a drill (horizontal).
The rotary hammer has two main modes of operation: standard drilling and drilling with impact. In general, the second mode for the rotary hammer is the main one, it is the mechanism for implementing this function that distinguishes the rotary hammer from the electric drill.
There is also a reverse function so that a stuck drill can be easily pulled out of the wall.
At the same time, the described tool does not have the function of impact crushing, the power is not the same. This perforator has a rather small impact force when drilling - only 1.2 J. In this regard, drilling walls with this perforator with a drill thicker than 10 mm, in our opinion, is not worth it. In general, given the parameters of the tool, the best choice for this hammer drill is a 6 or 8 mm drill (especially since these are the most common sizes of dowels for fastening to walls).
To ensure that the tool does not fail when the drill is jammed, the hammer drill has a special clutch that protects the engine.
We also note the fact that, compared with its more powerful counterparts, this hammer drill is less noisy, and its vibration is much lower.
Like most modern rotary hammers, the tool comes with an additional handle and a drilling depth gauge for blind holes.
On this, with the pluses and merits of the FELISATTI RH18 / 450ER perforator, it is worth finishing. Next come the cons.
The power is small - as mentioned earlier, only 450 watts.
If you drill hard material with this tool for a sufficiently long period of time, the engine will heat up very quickly and if you continue, the engine will simply burn out. That is, with a large amount of work, one way or another, you will have to take breaks. This is not very convenient. When drilling with a large drill diameter, the power may also simply not be enough. It's just that the drill will not turn if it is pressed hard against the drilling point.
In general, if we consider this hammer drill from all points of view, then it is suitable only for small one-time work for those people who can do something around the house, but do not plan a full overhaul or construction.
That is, drill a couple of holes for a shelf, a sheet of tin and similar work. No more. For other types of work, it is better to choose something more powerful.
