In this article we want to talk about one of the models of laser levels by ADA.
We're talking about a laser level. More precisely, we will talk about its three modifications, which differ in the number of rays and projections. To begin with, we note that this level is primarily focused on master finishers. It will not be superfluous in the set of a home master. There are three models in the ADA 3D line: ADA 3D LINER 2V, ADA 3D LINER 3V and ADA 3D LINER 4V.
The picture below shows how different the ray construction planes are for these models. Except for the difference in planes, this is the same level. Models differ by 1 - 2 thousand rubles from each other. But let's say right away that if you do not buy the ADA 3D LINER 4V model, then over time you will definitely begin to regret it. The difference in one plane or its insufficient development to the maximum angle with a large number of constructions is reflected in the course of construction and finishing in the form of additional time spent, loss
which is sure to annoy.
Further, we will describe only the most “fancy” ADA 3D model, as we said earlier, this is essentially the same level.
Description of the ADA 3D level
The LINER 4V laser level has 4 vertical and 1 horizontal beams. It also projects a plumb point at the installation site, which is very convenient when marking the installation site for wall or partition walls. Vertical rays, intersecting, form two mutually perpendicular planes. In this case, the planes turn 360 degrees, although the lines do not fully reach the level itself.
When installing partitions, it is very convenient when you can immediately mark the level both on the floor and on the surface of the ceiling, as well as walls. That is, from one point you can build the entire plane of the partition or frame for drywall. The downside is that the level cannot be fully pushed to the surface of the wall (although this is not necessary). A maximum plane parallel to the wall can be built at a distance of about 30 mm from it.
Structurally, the ADA 3D level is a beveled metal cylinder with windows for beams. For its appearance, builders often call it “gravitsapa” for its similarity to the device of the same name from the cult film “Kin Dza Dza”. From below on the case there are three legs with rubber conical tips. Legs are adjustable with internal threaded screws. With these legs, you can conveniently adjust the horizontal plane of the level.
At the bottom of the level in its center is a threaded socket for a standard tripod. The diameter of the threaded socket sleeve is 5/8", which also corresponds to the size of the sleeve of most photo tripods. Both a special tripod for a level and any tripod for geodetic equipment - a level or a theodolite. By the way, you need to buy a tripod as an additional option, but if you often need to mark the surface of the walls, this is a mandatory equipment.
On the body of the level there is a small but rather comfortable handle made of leatherette, for which it can be easily and accurately moved from place to place.
To visually determine the correct position of the level before turning it on, there is a bubble level on the body. By adjusting the legs, you bring the bubble to the center of the level and you can turn on the device. If you do not set it before turning it on, the laser beams will flash. This means that the device is skewed relative to the horizontal plane by more than 2 degrees and the beams cannot completely self-align.
For precise orientation of vertical planes, a rotary dial with screws is built into the device. There is a graduation on the limb with the designation of degrees from 0 to 360. If you need to mark a specific angle on the surface of the floor or ceiling, then with this level it will be very quick and easy for you to do this.
Also, the level is equipped with a sound warning system in case you forgot to turn off the device and put it in this state in the case.
This is done to prevent damage to the self-leveling system, and to prevent the power supplies from being discharged. You can work with the level at a distance of up to 40 meters, although in sunlight even at a distance of 10 meters you will no longer see the beam, even with special glasses. In this regard, the creators have provided for the possibility of using a special receiver, which will allow you to determine the location of the line in the brightest light.
It is also worth noting that with the receiver, the distance at which the level can be used is significantly increased - up to 70 meters.
The receiver is not included in the package, but you can always buy it in addition. It is universal and fits all ADA models that are equipped with this option. Turning on the device is very simple - you need to turn the black screw
Level kit ADA 3D
In retail sales, the level is sold in a special case. The case has a metal outer lining, and inside it is filled with fairly dense foam rubber. Special niches are cut in the foam rubber for the level and additional equipment. At the same time, all the components sit in the niches very tightly and even when the case is turned over, nothing falls out.
Also included are special glasses made of red plastic. They are designed to improve the visibility of laser beams in daylight. By the way, from the author's own experience, we can say that they really improve visibility, and quite significantly.
The level comes with three AA batteries. By the way, during operation, we recommend buying a set of batteries, it is cheaper to operate and more practical. If you work a lot with the level, then you can make two sets of batteries. While you are working with one, the second is charging. Although in our opinion it is redundant. The kit is enough for 4-5 hours of continuous operation, which is quite enough for a working day, and put the batteries on charge at night and in the morning they are ready for work again.
Also in the case there is a target made of plastic with marks for precise marking of levels. And of course, the instruction manual for the ADA 3D laser level.
As a minus, it is worth noting the cubic shape of the case for the level. It is very inconvenient to carry despite its lightness. In the hand in which you carry the case, you can no longer take any other tool or bag.
