This level is one of the types of a large class of building levels . For those who don't know, the water level is a transparent flexible plastic hose. In the course of measurements, it is filled with water and, due to the principle of communicating vessels, it can be used to make marks in the desired horizon. In other words, mark a horizontal plane or line with a high degree of accuracy.
For those cases when it is necessary that the marks differ in height by a certain distance, there are special hollow handles with markings at the edges of the level. Water level technology
To create a water level with your own hands, you first need the necessary materials. First, you need a transparent flexible hose of the desired diameter. Its length should be selected based on the size of the premises in which you will work. The diameter of the hose should not be too small (so that air bubbles do not form) and not too large (inconvenient to work with).
The most appropriate is the diameter (inner) from 6 to 12 mm. Next, you should pay attention to the material of the hose and its characteristics. The walls must be thick enough so that no creases occur on them during operation, as well as flexible. The most rational option is soft plastic. The hose should bend well.
You can not look for hollow handles at all, since it is rather difficult to find them, or to pick up something similar.
It is best to bypass this problem. To do this, attach pieces of wooden bars or slats to the ends of our hose section. We carefully attach them to the ends of the hose. This must be done in such a way that the ends of the hose are located exactly in the center of the bars without bends or pinches. To do this, you can use wide brackets, or better, special fasteners for wires or plastic pipes of small diameter. Directly on the hose itself, we apply markings using an indelible marker. First of all, you need to remember that you can use the level only at positive temperatures. This is due to the fact that water at temperatures below 0 degrees simply freezes. Do not leave the level in the open sunlight for a long time. The fact is that plastic under the influence of high temperatures becomes brittle.
The water level must be handled with care. It must be rolled up exclusively in rings, bending the kinks. If you make at least one inflection (a hall), consider that the level does not have long to live.
Before the start of the cold period, if you plan to store the water level in an unheated room, you should additionally make sure that there is no water in it, otherwise, if it freezes, it can simply break the hose.
